Fast... But not that serious. Playful... But not frivolous.
The Amateur Asian Athletes are a team of active and like-minded who love the camaraderie of training and the thrill of the race. We work hard for the fun of it because we can and want to.
And we're all athletes to some degree – some of us maybe a little better than others. But the common denominator is that we’ve all picked up sports in a big way and through sports, we have decided to reach for the skies.
Deadly fast – this is our motto.
Why? Because it’s not about a particular sport, but about going balls to the wall in any discipline we choose to indulge in.
There is no one sport. Swimming, road cycling, mountain biking, running, climbing, golfing, badminton, soccer… You name it. We love it all. Sounds like a stretch but the truth is we do a lot because we’re an active bunch.
At the moment, we’re all Asian but the general rule is that anyone who trains with us has to be based in Asia. We do not rule out teammates based on skin colour, if that’s what you were thinking.
We are all amateurs and proud of this. We have no intention of turning professional as we’re all from a variety of professional backgrounds: Marketing, branding, public relations, engineering, business development, aviation, the financial industry and even in the civil service.
One thing is a must after each training session - Makan.
Almost every single one of our group workouts is followed by drinks or food - Nothing like refueling after a grueling workout, and giving each other a pat on the back or whack in the ass.
